Societymanufactured.me
A campaign experience using AI-generated text and images to promote awareness of the ‘infodemic’ through exposure to what rhetoric, propaganda, and disinformation look like in exaggerated forms. It encourages the use of a critical mind when engaging with information in the media and online spaces.
This project came about in response to the fatigue of misinformation circulating this past year. It critically questions the contemporary social landscape saturated with misinformation that incites fear and forms of repressive discrimination.

Society—Manufactured Website User Flow & Interface
The site is a platform to inform through an archive of relevant articles and reading about m[d]isinformation as well as various ways to combat the 'infodemic'. There is also a generator to interact with, allowing users to download artwork to post online or print out and stick up themselves.
Randomize Generator
The randomize generator is intended to mimic how anything can be easily manufactured the same way troll farms generate the disinformation they disseminate which then get recirculated on the internet.
Randomize Generator & Code
AI Generated Image + Text
The designs for the randomize generator are composed of two GAN (generative adversarial network) collections developed by training AI models: The first is of generated rhetoric from Donald Trump’s claims of election fraud; the other is regenerated images of the insurrection at the US Capitol building. These input images were chosen to show how rhetoric led to this unfortunate event.
Reference Archives
The reference pages are a way for users to know where to start their journey to becoming more informed. It is also designed in a way to reinforce the idea of information inundation. Upon researching the exponential acceleration of technology and media and trying to understand its role in our society, finally seeing its corrosive effects on our ability to be analytical thinkers, we find that with connectivity comes the circulation of information, as well as the inundation of misinformation. Again through exposure to this concept, one may learn a key aspect to why this ‘infodemic’ is taking place. Users can move each linked object around to make the page more personal and easier to maneuver while the click-through allows users to easily connect with resources.
QR Stickers & Social Media
QR stickers allow for street-level promotion to get people aware. Images + text pique the initial interest and the QR code prompts the audience to visit the site. The social media presence allows for user’s images to be highlighted and show how individual’s use the stickers. The QR code also highlights the concept of buying into the rhetoric and propaganda we see, hear, and read in the media and online.
